Pruitt among 78
administrators nationwide chosen
to develop
accountability system
Dr. Dennis
Pruitt, vice president for student affairs and vice provost for
academic support, is among 78 administrators from public
colleges and universities across the nation selected to develop
recommendations for a Voluntary System of Accountability.
The project is a
partnership between the American Association of State Colleges
and Universities (AASCU) and the National Association of State
Universities and Land-Grant Colleges (NASULGC).
Pruitt will work
with task forces and technical work groups to develop a system
of accountability that can be adopted at any public college or
university. He will serve on the Task Force on Campus
Engagement.

Sophomore Initiative: The University of South Carolina’s
Innovative Approach to Empowering Sophomore Students” at the
joint conference of the National Association of Student
Personnel Administrators (NASPA) and the American College
Personnel Association (ACPA) in Orlando, Fla. Gahagan
also presented “Enhancing First-Year Student Success Through
Residential Learning Initiatives” at the Annual Conference on
the First-Year Experience in Addison, Texas.
Bob Godfrey,
financial aid and scholarships, was awarded the NASFAA (National
Association of Financial Aid Administrators) State and Regional
Leadership Award for the Southern Region.
Vicki Hamby,
career center, was elected to Leadership South Carolina Class of
2007.

Lake City, Utah. Justin won the honor for his summer position
as Family Orientation Intern at Suffolk University, Boston,
Mass. At NODAC, he also won Best Problem Solving in the
Graduate Student Case Study Competition.
Erin Campbell, graduate student, won Best Communication and Best Overall in
the Graduate Student Case Study Competition at the National
Orientation Directors Association Conference in Salt Lake City,
Utah.
Katie Harrison, student financial aid and scholarships, presented “At Least

at the joint conference of the North and South Carolina

Scott Lewis, student judicial programs, co-presented “Student Suicide:
Best Practices for Student Affairs Administrators, Counselors
and Campus Health Service Providers,” a web seminar sponsored by
the National Center for Higher Education Risk Management (NCHERM).

Personnel Association) conference in Charleston, SC.

Multiculturalism and Social Justice: A Majority Professional’s
Multicultural Journey” at the South Atlantic Affiliate of
College and University Residence Halls meeting, Wise, Va.
Rachel Siron, graduate student, won Best Problem Solving in the Graduate
Student Case Study Competition at the National Orientation
Directors Association Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. At
the same conference, she co-presented “Learning How to Move
Mountains with Staff Training.”

Multicultural Journey” at the South Atlantic Affiliate of
College and University Residence Halls meeting, Wise, Va.
McGreevey’s presentation was recognized as one of the
conference’s top 21 programs.
Rachel Siron,
graduate student, won Best Problem Solving in the Graduate
Student Case Study Competition at the National Orientation
Directors Association Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. At
the same conference, she co-presented “Learning How to Move
Mountains with Staff Training.”
