community service. The recipient must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0
and preference is given to off-campus students. Students must be
enrolled and present at the University of South Carolina – Columbia
for the consecutive semester to be eligible.

The award recognizes students who have made an outstanding
contribution to the community and university through service.
USC Outstanding Student Organization Service Award
This award recognizes student organizations that are role models to
other organizations based on quality of service, amount of time and
effort devoted to service projects, and the level of impact on the
student population and the community. An organization is not
eligible to receive this award during two consecutive years.
2008 Outstanding Faculty or Staff Volunteer Award
This award recognizes a member of the University of South Carolina
faculty or staff for his/her outstanding contribution to the
community and university through service.
2008 Outstanding Service-Learning Award

into academic study. Structured reflection on community service
helps students to gain a deeper comprehension of course content,
societal issues and an enhanced sense of civic responsibility. All
faculty members who have integrated service-learning into their
classes are eligible to apply.

their work with University of South Carolina students, faculty and
staff. Nominations will be accepted from USC students, faculty, and
staff. This is an attempt to recognize those individuals who work to
