November 3 –
December 3, 2008
Carolina Cares is a university-wide holiday drive sponsored by
Community Service Programs & the Carolina Service Council. Check out
the descriptions below and help make this the best holiday season
USC has ever had!
Stocking Stuffers
In a partnership with the Salvation Army, we help to collect
stockings for children who otherwise may not receive anything. The
stockings are free and it only takes a few bucks to make a child's
holiday that much happier. Beginning on November 1st you can pick up
stockings in our office, room 227 in the Russell House. We will also
provide you with a list of good ideas for stocking stuffers.
Stockings are due back to our office no later than November 28th.
Adopt-A-Family
In partnership with the Nurturing Center, we help connect students,
faculty and staff to the Adopt-A-Family program. These families
would otherwise not be able to provide any presents for their
children. The Nurturing Center will provide you with a family wish
list and you get the enjoyment of shopping for the presents
yourself. The presents can be dropped off at the Nurturing Center
(unwrapped) or dropped off in our office in room 227 in the Russell
House. To get more information on how you can help out, contact
Kathye Holder at the Nurturing Center at 771-4160 or
kholder@thenurturingcenter.org.
There are a limited amount of families, so act fast to help out!
The USC Tree Lighting Ceremony
On Wednesday, December 3rd the university will celebrate the 54th
Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on the Historic Horseshoe. Come to
listen to the carolers, sip hot cider and enjoy the beautiful
festivities. The ceremony begins at 6pm. All are welcome!
