University of South Carolina’s Sorority Council Nationally Recognized

On October 15, 2011, a delegation of four members of University of South Carolina’s Sorority Council traveled to Austin, Texas to the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) Annual Meeting.  At this meeting, Sorority Council received two national awards – for Scholarship and for Progress in the Sorority Community.

After applying for NPC awards in April, the council was thrilled to be the recipient of two awards.  Award winners are selected from a pool of over one hundred of the best college Panhellenic groups internationally.  The Scholarship Award recognizes the outstanding achievement of the council and its member chapters in the area of academics.  The NPC chapters have average GPAs above the All-Women GPA at the University of South Carolina.  The Progress Award is given to the council that has made significant progress in the past two years.  The council has implemented multiple programs to better the community while adjusting for welcomed, yet significant, growth in member chapters.

While at the Annual Meeting, the delegation met with National and International sorority representatives and attended NPC business sessions.  They were also honored at the evening banquet, where they were presented with award plaques.

The University of South Carolina’s Sorority Council is dedicated to the development of sorority relations at a high level of accomplishment through promoting high ideals, superior scholarship, and overall cooperation in accordance with each member chapter’s inter/national organization.
