On Thursday, October 17, 2013, the University of South Carolina hosted the SC Tobacco-Free College and University Summit, a free, day-long conference providing colleges and universities with information, tools and resources to successfully begin and implement the process for a tobacco free campus policy.

The theme of this summit was Tobacco-Free College Campuses: Changing Social Norms.  Conference topics and presentations included:

• Making a case for your campus becoming tobacco-free 
• Buy in/How to get started 
• Policy compliance and legal issues 
• Lessons learned from current tobacco-free colleges

The 2013 SC Tobacco Free Summit was hosted by Healthy Carolina whose mission is to create a healthy campus environment that promotes the development and maintenance of a healthy body, mind and spirit through the collaborative development, promotion and assessment of policies, programs, services and initiatives that address all dimensions of wellness for the members of the University of South Carolina campus community.

The Summit was sponsored by Healthy Carolina and the South Carolina Tobacco-Free Collaborative.
