F-1 OFF-CAMPUS EMPLOYMENT
INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION
This work authorization allows F-1 students to be employed by a
select group of international organizations. The list of
organizations is
available online.
Students must remain enrolled full-time during the period of
employment. Employment may take place at any time during
studies, but not after completion of studies. The work does not
need to be related to the program of study; however, many
organizations hire based on how the field of study relates to
the position.
Students should confirm that the hiring organization is on the
list and determine if the organization is willing to hire an F-1
student. An appointment with an international student advisor to
discuss the application and eligibility issues is required early
in the process of job searching.
Once there is a job offer, the student will need to submit an
application through International Programs for Students to the
USCIS. Application processing takes a minimum of two months;
however, processing times vary throughout the year, so students
should plan ahead.
To discuss the process further, make an appointment with an
international student advisor by calling 777-7461.
