Myths & Stereotypes
This presentation helps leaders to identify common myths and
stereotypes so they may avoid using them or falling into the
stereotypical roles based on just one of their many
characteristics. Many leaders adopt stereotypes as social norms
since they must identify with a large membership and thus
enforce myths and stereotypes rather than debunk them. They
also make the mistake of categorizing group members under common
stereotypes and cultural myths. Overall, the presentation
teaches participants to value individuals and to steer clear of
lumping a person into a group where everyone is, for example,
similar in appearance.
