The National Student Exchange Program is a consortium of colleges and
universities in the United States, the U.S. territories, and Canada
that provides opportunities for undergraduate students to study for
up to one calendar year at another NSE member institution while
still paying tuition at USC. With more than 190 colleges and
universities from which to choose, USC students should be able to
find a campus with just the right combination of courses,
facilities, and environment to meet their personal and academic
needs and interests.
Applications for the 2008-2009 school year now available!
We are no longer accepting post-conference applications for
Spring 2008.
Roughly two-thirds of the NSE schools are still accepting
students for exchange for the 2007-2008 school year. Any students
who are interested need to fill out an application and contact our
office to set up an appointment. Please indicate that the
appointment is for NSE. Catalogs of the participating schools are
available in our office as well. Schools will continue to accept
students on a first come first serve basis until they fill up. We
will continue to consider applications into the fall.
Student Experiences
"Idaho from South Carolina might as well be a
different planet. But I came here, immediately began writing for the
student newspaper and made friends very quickly. I took interesting
classes with very stimulating professors. On the weekends, I indulged
in some of the many outdoor activities of the American West. I
have determined that moving my life out to Idaho and attending law
school here next year is exactly what I want to do. I could not have
made such an informed decision had it not been for NSE. My time in
Moscow has truly been one of the most rewarding experiences in my
college career." Tecla Markosky, USC Student- To The University of
Idaho.
"By going to another school I was able to see the differences
there are within a few hundred miles. The University of Louisville
is much smaller than USC and it was easy to run into people I knew
everywhere I went. I have made many friends and have even convinced
one to come back with me to USC for a year through the NSE program
in order to experience the differences for herself."
Whitney Jerz, USC Student - To the University of Louisville
"I went to the University of Alaska in Anchorage and arrived in
January in the midst of the shortest days and coldest temperatures.
It is now daylight until 10:00 at night and the snow is disappearing
in the light of spring melt. To be in such close proximity to
mountains and sea, with one of the most ranging bore tides in the
world is quite inspiring. The classes and outdoors experiences
offered by the university and surrounding area have inspired me to
travel more and expand my practical geography knowledge."
Kristen Boenger, USC Student - To the University of Alaska in
Anchorage
"I went on exchange for a semester at the University of the
Virgin Islands-St. Thomas. I wish I had done the entire year,
because my experience was better than I would have ever thought! I
was able to experience life in a completely different culture and
visit many different islands during my stay in St. Thomas. My
experience was great and I would encourage everyone to go on
exchange at some point in their college careers!"
