Program’s Purpose:
The purpose of the
institute is to provide an environment for African American males
whereby they can develop a connectedness to the University of South
Carolina and its community. Additionally, the institute seeks to
motivate and empower African American males to assume roles of
leadership and expose participants to proven strategies for creating
greater professional and personal success by promoting academic
excellence through mentorship, workshops/seminars, and focus groups.

of the institute are comprised of the four target areas below. The
components will be accomplished through speakers, workshops and
mentorships.
