Additional Information on Parents Weekend Registration – August 30, 2007

 Good Evening!  Registration for Parents Weekend is open today.

Some parents have had difficulty opening the newly revised Web page.  If you have visited the page previously, it may be cached (saved on your computer). In order to access the newly updated page, you will need to refresh the page in your browser or clear the browser’s cache.   You may also quit your browser software, reopen it, and enter this web address: http://www.sa.sc.edu/parents

Press return, and you should have access to the updated Parents web page.  You should see a large button marked “REGISTER NOW.”   Click on the button, which will take you to the registration page.

 Parents who are using AOL to access the internet may have to use an alternate internet browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, etc.) to begin the registration process.

 Please read the instructions carefully regarding the Parents Weekend package components.

Information including packages and pricing is also available on the Web site. Tickets to the USC vs. Vanderbilt football game can be purchased in addition to your package and are sold on a first-come first-served basis. Be sure to register early if you would like to attend!

Also, by visiting our Parents Weekend page you have access to our tentative schedule of events.  We have a lot of great events scheduled that you surely won't want to miss!

 Mark your calendars! Registration for Parents Weekend 2007, October 19-21, will begin this Thursday, August 30 at 8:30 a.m. To register please go to www.sa.sc.edu/parents. Information including packages and pricing is also available on the Web site.  University of South Carolina Parent Updates – August 14, 2007

South Carolina Parents,

A new Emergency Notification System has been developed to more successfully reach students, faculty, and staff during an emergency. Under the new system, SMS/text and voice messages will be sent to the cell phone numbers provided by students, faculty, and staff through VIP - https://vip.sc.edu , as well as to e-mail addresses, and land-line numbers. The system was installed as part of ongoing efforts to improve safety measures on campus. More information about this system can be found at http://www.sc.edu/emergency.

 For the system to reach your student in an emergency, the student's information must in the system and accurate. Cell phone numbers have not been previously requested by the University, but now offer the most immediate and reliable way of distributing time-sensitive information that can be received instantly by a large group of people. This system will be used only for alerting the University community to emergency situations.

 Please visit http://www.sc.edu/emergency for helpful information, instructions and emergency tips, and encourage your student to update their information on the system. If they experience any difficulties they can also contact the UTS Help Desk at (803) 777-1800.

 In other news, Move-In Day is right around the corner! For more information, please visit http://www.sc.edu/uscwelcome.  The Office of Parents Programs will have a Parent Information Tent set up from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Greene Street in front of the Russell House on Move-In Day.  Please stop by if you have any questions.  We look forward to seeing you there!

 Parents Weekend 2007 will be held October 19-21.  Online registration is not yet available, but continue to check the Web site at http://www.sa.sc.edu/parents in the upcoming weeks for more information on registration and the Parents Weekend schedule.

August Updates and Parents Weekend Information – August 1, 2007

Carolina Parents,

The end of summer is here and an exciting fall semester at USC is just around the corner!  As you and your students prepare for the move back to Columbia, do not hesitate to contact us with questions.  Move-in day and Welcome Week is certainly an exciting time, and there is much to look forward to in the coming weeks! Attached is the August edition of the Campus Link for your review.

UPDATES REGARDING PARENTS WEEKEND:

The Office of Parents Programs is excited to announce that football tickets WILL be included in the Parents Weekend packages this year, on a first-come first-served basis.  Pricing of the packages is still being determined. 

We are in the process of obtaining a new online registration system for Parents Weekend.  As soon as this is available, parents will be notified about the specific date and time that the system will be opened, through the following methods:

1.  Members of our dues-free Parents Association who are currently receiving e-mails from the Office of Parents Programs will receive an e-mail with registration information and the link to our new system.

2.  Registration information and the link to our new system will be posted to the parent Web site:  www.sa.sc.edu/parents

 Again, this is the latest information we have regarding Parents Weekend.  You can find additional information about the weekend on the parent Web site.  We appreciate your patience as the final details are determined.  The event is over two months away, so there is plenty of time to register and get excited about this family event!  Let us know if you have any questions at all.
