Parents Annual Fund… A Partnership for Support
Your generosity proves to our bright, young scholars that there are many gracious people who believe in them.

How does it help?
Through the Parents Annual Fund, a development program sponsored by the Office of Parents Programs, you have the opportunity to make tax-deductible contributions to programs and services that directly impact Carolina students and parents.  All parents of current students are contacted each year and are encouraged to participate.  Proceeds from the Parents Annual Fund help sponsor projects and resources targeted towards parents such as the Carolina Ties newsletter, the Parents Assistance Line, and the parents calendar/handbook.

In addition, a specific project is chosen annually to receive funds generated by the Parents Annual Fund. Past projects have included renovations to the Russell House University Union, enhancements to Career Center technology and lights for the intramural fields at the Strom Thurmond Wellness and Fitness Center. The Parents Annual Fund is currently funding an initiative called Dinner Dialogues.

Why ask parents to give?
University programs and services cannot run without the help of charitable donations and gifts. Tuition and fees, as well as state-supported financing, only pays for a small percentage of the cost. Your support provides the "extras" not available through other sources of funding. This gift opportunity allows parents to strengthen the living and learning environment at the University of South Carolina by maintaining and bolstering programs focused on community building, service, the enhancement of leadership skills, self-confidence and intellectual passion.

Why does the University ask parents to give when we already pay student fees and living expenses?
The Parents Annual Fund was created to offer parents an opportunity to enrich the lives of all Carolina students through private giving.  Many parents express a desire to demonstrate their support and appreciation for the University chosen by their students and to increase their involvement in the life of Carolina.

How much should I give?
Your participation in the Parents Annual Fund is more important than the size of your gift. Whether your gift is $25, $250 or $25,000, we ask that you do give. Your gift provides important resources to enhance the college experience and improve educational opportunities for students.

Is my gift tax-deductible?
Yes. Donors who itemize deductions receive a full tax benefit.

How do I make a gift?
Gifts can be made to the Parents Annual Fund through our online giving form.
