General Accommodations Available By Type of Disability

While actual approved accommodations are determined by careful committee review of your file, we provide, in general, the following accommodations:

If you are Blind or Visually Impaired

  • Audio books or eText
  • Use of audio recorder in class with professor permission
  • Note takers in class
  • Extended time on tests
  • Use of computer and technology for taking tests
  • Scribe for taking tests (although we encourage use of technology as much as possible so that you take tests with as much independence as possible)
  • Reduced course load recognized as full-time by USC

 

If you use a Wheelchair

  • Approval for use of adaptive van with wheelchair lift through USC Transportation
  • Accessible desks in the classrooms
  • Depending upon functional limitations, additional accommodations may include extended time on tests, note takers, and reduced course load recognized as full-time by USC

 

If you have a Psychiatric disability

  • Reduced course load recognized as full-time by USC
  • Use of audio recorder in class, with professor permission

 

If you are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

  • Sign language interpreters
  • Note takers
  • Reduced course load recognized as full-time by USC

 

If you have Traumatic Brain Injury

  • Reduced course load recognized as full-time by USC
  • Use of audio recorder in class, with professor permission
  • Depending upon functional limitations, additional accommodations may include approval for things such as extended time on tests and note takers

 

If you have a Learning Disability

  • Extended time on tests
  • Use of audio recorder in class, with professor permission
  • Reduced course load recognized as full-time by USC
  • Depending upon the specific learning disability and functional limitations, additional accommodations may include approval for things such as audio books or note takers

 

If you have ADD/ADHD

  • Extended time on tests
  • Use of audio recorder in class, with professor permission

 

If you have a Health Impairment that is determined to be a disability by the Student Disability Services Registration Committee

  • Reduced course load recognized as full-time by USC
