Karen Pettus, Director
- Dr. Pettus earned a Ph.D.
in Educational Psychology from the University of South Carolina
in 2006. She has many years work experience in education,
including special education, the 2 year college, and the 4 year
university. She also teaches Education and University 101
courses at USC.
Becky Duke, Assistant Director - Becky earned an M.Ed. in Student Personnel Services
from the University of South Carolina in 2001. She is also a
Certified Global Career Development Facilitator. Her interests
include advising and career development work with students. She
is also the Disability Resource Coordinator for students with
psychiatric disabilities
Dorothy Prioleau, Executive
Office Assistant - As an Executive Office Assistant at the Office of Student Disability
Services, Dorothy orchestrates the administrative activities
including personnel, payroll, travel and budget. She is
responsible for the overall administrative day-to-day operation
of the office.
Lisa
G. Morrison, Disability Services Coordinator for Deaf and Blind
Students –
Lisa has an M.Ed. in Student Personnel Services and a Bachelor
of Arts in History from the University of South Carolina. In
the Office of Student Disability Services, she evaluates
documentation, conducts intake to register students, coordinates
interpreters for deaf students, and works with Braille
materials.
Charlotte
Helms, Student Services Coordinator
-
Charlotte works with students that request notetakers, test
proctoring services, and letters to the professors. She also
hires the notetakers for our students who are qualified to
receive this accommodation. She works with the faculty in
regards to our students' needs and accommodations.
Omar
Troutman, Learning Disability Specialist -
Omar currently serves as the case manager for students with learning disabilities. He earned his B.A. in Psychology in 2006 and is currently pursuing an Ed.S. in Counselor Education from the University of South Carolina.
Courtney D. Edwards,
Office Assistant
Courtney assists faculty, students, and staff in the Student
Services Office when needed and the same in the main office of
Student Disability Services. This may entail answering the
phone, assisting with note taking and test proctoring, and as
necessary working with office equipment. In addition, Courtney
is a volunteer note taker within the department.
