Gamecocks On the Move
Have you always wanted to run a 5K, but weren’t sure how to train for it?
Join Campus Wellness’ Gamecocks on the Move (GOTM)—a new, free USC faculty and staff-only walking and running club that provides members with the resources and support to train for a 5K.
Each spring and fall semester, GOTM will participate in a local 5K. While there are no fees associated with GOTM, races typically require registration fees.
During the summer and fall of 2012, GOTM will train for the October 6 Palmetto Health Race for Life 5K (hyperlink to race website: http://phf.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=1024329). GOTM will run/walk as a team to raise money for breast cancer research and affiliated programs and services.
Training for the 5K event will start on July 30th (10 weeks before the event in October). However, you can sign up for GOTM at any time and start your training once you receive your packet. Participation in the 5K race is not a requirement of this club either.
GOTM participants can request one-on-one or small group coaching with Campus Wellness certified personal trainer. Information about nutrition, proper footwear and injury prevention will be provided throughout the training period.
While Campus Wellness will host some training sessions during the 10-week period leading up to the 5K, it is the primary responsibility of GOTM members to meet and train together in a manner convenient to them.
