Marguerite O'Brien, MSW
Director, Campus Wellness
Marguerite O'Brien serves as the Director of Campus Wellness. She holds a Master's degere in Social Work from the University of South Carolina. Previously, Marguerite served as a health consultant for Lexington Medical Center. She is a certified fitness and yoga instructor and personal trainer. Prior to her work at Lexington Medical Center, Marguerite served as the Executive Director of City Year. She enjoys exercising, travelling, reading and spending time with her husband, John, and their rescued Cocker Spaniel/Daschund, Holly.

Lauren Hastings, MPH
Program Coordinator
Lauren previously worked on the Environmental Interventions in Children’s Homes (ENRICH) project for 4 years, a research project housed out of the Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina. She received a BS in Exercise Science from Appalachian State University and an MPH in Health Promotion, Education, and Behavior from the University of South Carolina. From canoeing on the Saluda River, running and rollerblading at the Three Rivers Greenway, to biking into work, Lauren enjoys the outdoors!

Marci Torres, MPH
Program Coordinator
Marci Torres attended Clemson University for her undergraduate work in health science and earned her MPH in health promotion disease prevention from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Marci spent the last two years working in personal training at the Bodyshop in Lexington and conducting health education for the United States Army in Seoul, Korea. She is a certified personal trainer and group exercise instructor. She enjoys traveling, spending time at the beach and doing anything outdoors.

Deborah Zippel, RD, MS
Registered Dietitian
After
working as a Sports Dietitian and a
Student Health Dietitian at the University of
Iowa, Deb now serves as the Registered Dietitian for
Campus Wellness Promotion as well as with the
USC Athletic Department. A former Iowa State
University swimmer, Deb plays competitive tennis
now. Her main interests include sports
nutrition, cardiac health, and weight
management. Deb enjoys spending time with her
children and traveling. One of her favorite
quotes is from Ben Franklin, “The first wealth
is health.” |

Julie Hutt, MA, AFAA
Program Director, Faculty & Staff Wellness
Julie joins us after previously
working at Elon University as the Associate
Director of Campus Recreation for four years.
She received her undergraduate and graduate
degree in physical education at Western Michigan
University in Kalamazoo, MI. Julie has been
nationally certified in group exercise for nine
years and a nationally certified personal
trainer for three eyars. She is originally from
Lansing, Illinois and enjoys running the Chicago
Marathon, the beach, and finding a good bargain. |

Megan Condrasky, Grad. Assistant for Tobacco/Cancer Prevention
Super-cool Megan graduated from Clemson University in 2007 with a BS in Biological Sciences and is from Greenville, SC. She’s getting her MHA degree in Health Services, Policy and Management. |

Jerin Raj is a first year graduate student from Atlanta, GA. He received his undergraduate degree in Public Health from the University of Georgia. He is currently pursing his MPH/MSW dual degree in Health Services Policy & Management at USC. |

Katie Buell, General Wellness Graduate Assistant
Katie graduated in May 2006 from the University of North Carolina - Wilmington (UNC Wonderful), with a bachelors degree in Physical Education and Health with a concentration in Exercise Science. In 2007, she served as a Peace Corps Community Health Agent in Niger, Africat. She is now working towards her MPH degree in Health Promotion, Education and Behavior.

Rena Hasegawa is a first-year graduate student from Myrtle Beach, SC. She graduated from Clemson University with a BS in Health Science May 2008. She is pursuing her MPH in health promotion, education, and behavior.
