Choose to Lose wins ACPA Commission for Wellness Outstanding Wellness Program Award
Student Health Services Campus Wellness received notification that its popular weight management program Choose to Lose has received the national ACPA Commission for Wellness Outstanding Wellness Program for Higher Education Professionals Award.
The award recognizes an outstanding wellness program geared toward higher education professionals. Recipients of the award are noted for innovation in programming that has wide-reaching influence on faculty and/or staff wellness on campus. Wellness programs considered for the award encompass many areas including physical, emotional, spiritual, occupational, social and intellectual dimensions.
Choose to Lose is typically a nine-week program offered each spring and fall to students, faculty and staff that helps participants create a solid foundation for losing weight in a healthy, sustainable way. The program emphasizes making manageable, day-to-day changes that create lasting results for life. It is designed for individuals seeking assistance with substantial weight loss who need assistance with managing/preventing medical conditions, may feel less comfortable or knowledgeable about how to exercise correctly, or those who could use extensive education, support and motivation to make changes possible.
While Campus Wellness is not enrolling participants for spring’s Choose to Lose yet, many no- and low-cost services are available to students, faculty and staff year-round including blood pressure checks, weight checks, body fat percentage measurement, exercise consultations and worksite preventive health screenings.
