Here are some examples of how you can Stand Up!

If you see a friend who is out of it and is being intimate with someone, you should pull them aside and try your best to make sure that person is safe and knows what he or she is doing.

If a friend is trying to engage in a sexual encounter with someone who is out if it, you should try to pull them aside and stop them from getting themselves into trouble.

Your roommate has recently starting seeing someone new. You notice that he/she constantly checks in with their partner and the partner seems really controlling. You decide to talk with your friend regarding the behavior.

If you notice a couple is arguing and things are becoming aggressive you can simply ask, “Are you alright” or “tell the aggressor that the police has been called because of the noise”.

Report unusual behaviors to campus authorities

  • Distract the perpetrator in order to diffuse the situation
  • Take one person aside and distract them
  • Offer to call a cab
  • Knock on the door
  • Directly ask one of the people what is going on
