The purpose of the Student Success Center is to coordinate an intentionally-designed, comprehensive array of programs, resources, and services that guide undergraduate students to degree completion at USC through promoting academic goal-setting and skill development, personal transition to the university setting, and effective decision-making.

Below are opportunities within the SSC that offer undergraduate students an opportunity to provide course-specific assistance to their peers.

Application Timeline:

  • Priority Application Deadline: October 31st
  • Information Chat Sessions: Week of October 20th
  • Mandatory Group Interview: November 3rd-5th (All candidates must attend one)
  • All Application materials Due: November 5th (Transcript, Resume, and a Faculty Recommendation and/or a staff/faculty/supervisor recommendation must be submitted to the Student Success Center) Click here for the Required Faculty Recommendation Form
  • Individual Interviews: November 10th-21st
  • Notify Selected Candidates: December 5th

  • All SSC Peer Leaders must:

    • Demonstrate in an interview their communication skills, motivation, dedication and ability to work with undergraduate students in an academic/advising setting
    • Act as academic role models to their peers through their role as an SSC Peer Leader
    • Participate in SSC Orientation on January 8th , programmatic training for their position January 9th.
    • Participate in the SSC Peer Leader Training Cohort that meets weekly during the first semester of their hiring

    Job Description:

    SI Leader

    • Be an undergraduate student at the University of South Carolina-Columbia
    • Earn an A in the subject area in which they wish to support
    • Have an overall GPA of 3.0 or above (on a 4.0 scale)
    • At least15 USC credit hours earned

    SI Leader Job Description – Spring 2015

    SSC Peer Caller

    • Be an undergraduate student at the University of South Carolina-Columbia
    • Earn an A in the subject area in which they wish to support
    • Have an overall GPA of 2.75 or above (on a 4.0 scale)
    • Have previous experience in customer service related positions such as administrative tasks (answering phones, Microsoft Office proficiency and organizational management)

    Peer Tutor

    • Be an undergraduate student at the University of South Carolina-Columbia
    • Earn an A in the subject area in which they wish to support
    • Have an overall GPA of 3.0 or above (on a 4.0 scale)
    • At least 15 USC credit hours earned

Simply look at the bottom right hand corner of this webpage. Whenever there is not a staff member online, you can still send us a message offline as well! We will make sure to respond to it as soon as possible.

    – October 21st 1-3pm
