Associate Director for Russell House Events
Department of Student Life
University of South Carolina
Office: Russell House, Suite 218
As associate director for Russell House events, Ryan Gross oversees the event management unit within the Russell House. This includes administration of space reservation software, event planning with student organizations and University departments and executing high-profile events in and around the Russell House. Ryan was promoted to this position in March 2016 after serving the Russell House as assistant director of operations since 2011, coordinator of event services from 2009 to 2011 and coordinator of events and operations from 2007 to 2009.
Ryan has been a member of the First Night Carolina planning committee and the Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support Professional Development Team.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Sport and Entertainment Management from the University of South Carolina in 2005 and is the third generation of his family to graduate from USC. In his free time Ryan enjoys spending time with his family doing lots of outdoor activities, playing board games and trying his hand at various home improvement projects. He’s also a huge sports fan! Ryan can be counted on to cheer on all of Carolina’s athletic teams (but especially baseball). He and his family are also very passionate about watching soccer, particularly the United States Men’s and Women’s National Team and England’s mighty Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.
Ryan says, “Collaboration across departments isn’t just spoken about and forgotten. It’s an essential part of our work in the Department of Student Life.”
