Academic
- If you are having trouble keeping up with the pace in any of your classes maybe you should try to enhance your learning skills and overall approach to different subjects. Explore Academic Centers for Excellence (ACE) for tips on how to maximize your potential in the classroom.
- Sometimes you have all the information in front of you but it remains difficult to retain it all and use it come test time. Various tutoring programs are available for various subjects. Visit My Tutoring to schedule an appointment.
- SI or Supplemental Instruction offers another avenue for participating in a comprehensive study group. Supplemental Instruction (SI) provides assistance in classes that have high rates of failure. Check out the website to see if you can benefit!
- Writing at an advanced level is necessary for success here at the University of South Carolina. If you cannot seem to grasp the tactics and strategies needed to write a “college-level” paper, think about visiting The Writing Center. In most cases professors allow and even encourage students to have papers revised and critiqued by the qualified staff at The Writing Center. Keep in mind they have multiple convenient locations set up around campus.

Personal
- Returning to campus and beginning classes can be a stressful ordeal, especially faced with the rigors of a second-year curriculum. - An unhealthy lifestyle can translate into bad habits in other aspects of daily life. Be familiar with all the resources Student Health Services has to offer.
- Unavoidable sicknesses are a part of life. Fortunately the Thomson Student Health Center provides all types of medical services to students with a centralized on-campus location.
- Sexual Health Services offers large amounts of information on varying subjects to ensure you take the necessary steps to staying healthy.
- In support of the Healthy Carolina initiative and drawing on the six dimensions of the wellness wheel, Campus Wellness Promotion offers a wide range of programs and services to assist members of our community with making healthy choices and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Safety
- Staying Safe is important. the University of South Carolina is in the middle of downtown Columbia. Check out these General Safety Tips to stay informed about staying safe on and around campus.
- University of South Carolina Police Department is a fully accredited police department. The department is located on Senate Street to help with a myriad of things like Residence Hall Violations, Auto or Bike Theft and Police Reports.
- Parking Services is located in the bottom of the Pendleton Street Garage. Stop there or visit their website for answers to questions about parking and registering your car or bike, the Carolina Shuttle, and parking violation fines.

- University Technology Services is available to help when your computer crashes and a paper is due next week, or you get a computer virus. Visit UTS at the corner of Blossom and Sumter.
