1. Consult the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to determine which benefit you may be eligible for. (See "Benefit Summaries" or call the VA at 1-888-442-4551)

2. Determine the benefits chapter number and obtain a benefit checklist from the USC Office of Veterans Services for your benefit chapter. (You may click the appropriate chapter above to get this information.)

3. Use the information that applies to you:

a) first time applicant to this chapter

b) transferring benefits from another school to USC - Columbia

c) continuing USC student

4. Provide required information to the USC Office of Veterans Services

5. You are certified by the USC Office of Veterans Services on a yearly basis (Summer, Fall, Spring) (Enrollment Certification Requests for the upcoming year are available after February 1st.) *

6. If you make any changes that affect your hours of enrollment, such as class withdrawals, attendance interruptions, etc., please the USC Office of Veterans Services to avoid under or over payment.

*If you are an Active Duty student or a student attending classes at less than a half time rate, complete an Enrollment Certification Request for each new semester.
