Rachel Bowman-2006 Outstanding Woman of the Year at USC

On Monday, March 20th the Outstanding Woman of the Year was announced at the Outstanding Women at USC Celebration. This award was established to recognize students for their academic, service, leadership, and co-curricular accomplishments. This year’s award recipient is Rachel Bowman.

Rachel is a recipient of the prestigious McNair Scholarship, and has maintained a stellar GPA despite the rigorous academic requirements of the University of South Carolina’s Honors College. As president of University Ambassadors, she has lead roughly 50 other model students and excellent representatives of USC by furthering the values of the Carolina Creed. She actively works to promote the rights of women in today’s society as the Vice President of Events and Activism in the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance. With regards to community service, this outstanding woman has taken leadership roles in her church and has participated in an alternative spring break program in Costa Rica with Trinity Missions. On top of this demanding schedule, this year’s recipient can also be seen at Williams-Brice Stadium and at the Colonial Center as a member of the USC Dance Team. Her ultimate goal is to be a medical doctor and a shaper of public health policy for women.
