Rachel Bowman-2006 Outstanding Woman of the Year at USC
On
Monday, March 20th the Outstanding Woman of the Year was
announced at the Outstanding Women at USC Celebration. This
award was established to recognize students for their academic,
service, leadership, and co-curricular accomplishments. This
year’s award recipient is Rachel Bowman.
Rachel is a recipient of the prestigious McNair Scholarship, and
has maintained a stellar GPA despite the rigorous academic
requirements of the University of South Carolina’s Honors
College. As president of University Ambassadors, she has lead
roughly 50 other model students and excellent representatives of USC by furthering the values of the Carolina Creed. She actively
works to promote the rights of women in today’s society as the
Vice President of Events and Activism in the Feminist Majority
Leadership Alliance. With regards to community service, this
outstanding woman has taken leadership roles in her church and
has participated in an alternative spring break program in Costa
Rica with Trinity Missions. On top of this demanding schedule,
this year’s recipient can also be seen at Williams-Brice Stadium
and at the Colonial Center as a member of the USC Dance Team.
Her ultimate goal is to be a medical doctor and a shaper of
public health policy for women.
