There are so many opportunities for women to get involved and prepare for leadership opportunities on campus and in their future career. Women's Student Services acts as a hub to connect women to opportunities and programs that meet their needs. Listed below are opportunities available (these may or may not be affiliated with the university)

Star Fellowship

The Running Start / Wal-Mart Star Fellowship is an exciting program that brings together college women from across the country to intern on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. Each semester we place seven college women in offices to intern for a female Representative or Senator. Housing and a stipend are provided. We are looking for female college students who are juniors, seniors or recent graduates to apply. During the semester, the Star Fellow interns Monday through Thursday in an office on Capitol Hill, and then each Friday, the Fellow participates in a political seminar where they learn the nuts and bolts of politics and the importance of running for elected office. Fellows learn from top campaign strategists, consultants and other important movers and shakers in Washington.

Basic Campaign Training in Spartanburg

Considering a run for office? Working in a campaign? This one-day session is designed to put all the elements in order so you can be organized and effective. One of our affiliate members, Daughters of Susan B. Anthony, has invited us to Spartanburg to share this valuable information with the Upstate.

When:	Saturday, August 28, 2010 Registration: 9:30 – 10 AM, Training Sessions: 10 AM – 3 PM
Where:	Kuhn Auditorium, Converse College – Spartanburg, SC
Cost:	$50 (includes beverages, lunch and training materials)
