Shay Malone has been named the new director of Multicultural Student Affairs and Nakia Strickland was named assistant director. The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, which is part of the Department of Student Life at USC, advocates for a welcoming, accepting, inclusive and supportive environment for students across multiple dimensions of diversity by implementing programs and cultural services that promote social justice and awareness.


Andrew Mohs and Sean O’Shea both joined the Marines after high school, were stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C., and served in the Middle East.

Now they are both full-time college students at the University of South Carolina, leading the Student Veterans Association as it works to help veterans adjust to life on campus. The organization started in 2012, and has about 200 members on the USC campus.


Fraternity recruitment at USC took to the streets last weekend, as more than 60 undergraduates joined Keep the Midlands Beautiful and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department to help clean up the Trenholm Acres neighborhood.
