Student Testimonials

Paul Zito
“Without Dobson, I would not have been able to have the experiences that I did. We were able to work alongside people that we never thought we would meet, and it provided an incredibly humbling and enlightening experience. I will forever be thankful to the Dobson organization for giving me the chance to have these experiences and to offer my service.”

“The trip I went on with the help of the Dobson Program was the most impactful trip I have ever been on. Out of 28 people on the trip, there were probably only two of us who were completely self-sufficient in Spanish. As soon as one of the local translators found out that I could speak Spanish, he put me to work. At first I was very nervous, but little by little I grew to love translating. One night at a youth conference another USC student wished to pray with a local boy who was about 10 years old. I was able to translate back and forth for the two boys, and it was a memorable night for all of us.”

“My experiences in Brazil have encouraged me to participate in other volunteering projects. I now serve lunch weekly at the Washington Street Soup Kitchen at the Washington Street United Methodist Church, in Columbia. I also plan on traveling to Bioluxi in December with MSN [Methodist Student Network] to work with the Salvation Army to rebuild houses and communities that were destroyed in the Hurricane Katrina tragedy.”
