Carolina After Dark
Community Service Resources
Carolina After Dark provides substance-free programming to all USC students. Once a month Carolina After Dark hosts movies, events, activities, games and more in the Russell House. Students may volunteer their time to assist with the management of Carolina After Dark. Because these events occur on a limited basis, students must be assigned to Carolina After Dark.
Maintenance within the Residence Halls
Many incidents cause damage to not only our shared Carolina community, but also the buildings in which we live, work and play. Our maintenance staff can always use helping hands within our residence halls. This form of community service can include such tasks as cleaning, basic upkeep, room inventory, and minor repairs.
Sustainable Carolina- Carolina Community Garden
The Community Garden is a collaborative project that began in July 2007 and provides a tangible statement of how food and agricultural issues are part of green living. Green Quad now has more than 1,000 square feet of vegetable garden, surrounded by fruit trees, berries and aquatic habitat. The garden is based on permaculture practices that use applied principles of ecology, such as water conservation methods and homegrown fertility, to create a sustainable and low-maintenance garden.

Typical activities include planting trees, tending to the gardens, weeding, pulling vines, spreading mulch and soil, acting as a greeter at Monthly Open House events and assisting with the flow of tours for visiting groups. Volunteers and volunteer groups are always needed and always welcomed; those groups or individuals who can commit to service on a regular basis are particularly helpful.
