How much does the Pillars program cost?
The Pillars program costs $350. This price includes four nights in University Housing, all meals, and any other cost associated with the program.
When can I register for Pillars?
Registration for Pillars 2018 will begin in the spring and remain open until the program has reached its full capacity. Each week will accommodate the first 150 students.
When will the program be held?
Summer 2018 sessions will be announced soon.
What is a Pillars XM?
A Pillars XM is an eXtended orientation Mentor who is passionate about the Gamecock experience and working with incoming students within the Pillars Program. These mentors are available to help facilitate activities throughout the program and also lead small group discussions. They are also there to assist students with any questions or concerns that they may have. The XMs will also serve as a mentor throughout an incoming students’ first year.
Where will students stay during the Pillars Program?
Students will be housed at a residence hall on campus.
How will students benefit from participating in the Pillars Program?
Students will have prior experience to the college life when arriving in the fall. Students will also be more aware of the valuable resources offered on campus. Students will begin to create a network of friendships with other students attending the University in the fall.
Will Pillars for Carolina interfere with New Student Orientation?
Pillars for Carolina will not interfere with New Student Orientation. We work the Office of Orientation to ensure that you may attend both of the programs in a single week. Should you attend New Student Orientation before or after the Pillars week, Pillars staff members will direct you from one location to the other.
What time is check-in?
Check-in is 3-5 p.m. on Tuesday.
What time is check-out?
Check-out is 9 a.m. on Saturday.

What airports are close to Columbia?
1. The Columbia Metropolitan Airport is about 15 minutes away from the USC campus. For more information and to see what airlines fly into Columbia, check out the airport website.
2. Charlotte Douglas Airport is located an hour and a half away from Columbia. To travel to Columbia the Charlotte/Columbia shuttle cost $55. To make a reservation contact the shuttle service.
