As Substance Abuse Prevention & Education Director, Aimee Hourigan directs substance abuse prevention and education initiatives designed to promote low-risk behaviors and build a healthy campus environment.
Aimee joined the SAPE office in July 2016 after coordinating campus substance abuse prevention efforts, peer education program, and the collegiate recovery community at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington where she was Assistant Director for Campus Prevention since 2005. Previous roles include Area Coordinator in Housing & Residential Life at University of Alabama and Peer Programs Coordinator in Student Health Center at James Madison University.
Aimee earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Queens College (now Queens University) in Charlotte and a Masters of Education in Student Affairs from James Madison University. She holds a Graduate Certificate in Core Public Health Concepts from the University of North Carolina. She has been honored as a Region III Consultant for BACCHUS Initiatives of NASPA.
As the proud mom of two adorable girls, Aimee holds her coffee dear. She loves helping students think critically about the influence of substances on their relationships, health, life goals, and academic success.
