Interim Associate Vice President of Student Life
Department of Student Life
University of South Carolina
Office: Russell House, Suite 115
In her role as interim associate vice president for student life, Anna Edwards is responsible for athletics tickets for students; campus recreation; fraternity and sorority life; multicultural student affairs; off-campus student services; parents programs; the Russell House University Union and its associated programs, including leadership and community service; substance abuse prevention and education; and student media.
Anna Edwards joined the Department of Student Life in June 2005 as the assistant to the associate vice president for student affairs. Over the years, her job responsibilities have changed and evolved into her current role.
After graduating from Clemson University, Anna worked as a leadership consultant for Kappa Kappa Gamma fraternity. This experience allowed her the opportunity to travel to more than 30 college campuses to focus on leadership development, risk management, officer training and transition and membership recruitment. She got the “student affairs bug" from being on college campuses all over the country.
Anna has been part of a variety of campus committees. After being a member of the Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support Professional Development Team, she served as co-chair of the committee for two years. For three years, she served as Student Life's representative on the division’s Planning, Assessment and Innovation Council (PAIC). In addition, she taught University 101 for five years.
Volunteering in the community plays an important role in Anna's life. She serves as a national volunteer for Kappa Kappa Gamma fraternity. She also is a member of the Junior League of Columbia and has held a variety of leadership roles, including co-chair of Holiday Market and nominating committee. She is a classroom coordinator at her children’s school and volunteers with her church whenever possible.
Anna earned her doctorate in educational administration and master’s hin higher education and student affairs from the University of South Carolina and a bachelor’s in political science and speech and communication studies from Clemson University.
Anna says she loves working at USC because of the students. In her words, "I believe they constantly challenge us to be better and be more just as much as we challenge them! I also would say there are great people who work here—we have a great network of faculty and staff who collaborate regularly. Student Life is a great place to work. We work hard, but have a lot of fun!"
