As the Substance Abuse Prevention and Education Coordinator, Emily Epting oversees the implementation and daily management of the AlcoholEdu for College online prevention program and identifies, implements and supports programs and initiatives related to alcohol and drug abuse prevention. She develops workshops and presentations for students, faculty and staff related to alcohol and drug abuse prevention.
Emily joined the SAPE office in January 2016. She previously worked for LRADAC, a local non-profit substance abuse treatment facility, as the Prior Authorization Coordinator, securing authorization for treatment services and building relationships between the agency and managed care organizations.
Emily earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina. She became a licensed social worker in 2013. She serves on the Carolina Community Coalition and the Healthy Carolina Steering Committee.
In her free time, Emily enjoys traveling, playing recreational softball and spending time with family and friends. She tries to attend as many live music events as possible and appreciates jam band music and outdoor venues. Emily plays piano and flute and has a goal of learning as many musical instruments as possible.
