GSA Treasurer

Tony Brown is a native of Columbia, South Carolina who is currently a doctoral student in the Health Services Policy and Management department at the University of South Carolina (USC). Tony was elected as the 2017-2018 Graduate Student Association (GSA) Treasurer and Chair of the Graduate Student Finance Committee. He also serves on the Health Services Advisory Committee for USC.

Tony works as a program coordinator at South Carolina HIV Council overseeing prevention initiatives. He received his Bachelors Degree in Biology from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina and his Masters Degree in Public Health from the University of South Carolina. Tony’s research focused on state and federal HIV policies and healthcare, Truvada (PrEP) uptake, and community social network analysis. He is heavily involved with HIV/STIs prevention, advocacy, and research.

Prior to being elected as the Treasurer for GSA, he served as the GSA Community Outreach Secretary from 2016-2017. Tony worked in corporate banking for five years maintaining a mortgage portfolio as well as a credit resolutions portfolio. He is excited to work with other student leaders in creating an atmosphere of success, compassion, and support for graduate students.
