They can provide consultation to USC Community Members, including faculty, staff, students, family members and friends, with guidance on how to talk to the person who seems to be struggling, information about how to help, and strategies for helping students get connected.
Consultations can be made anonymously.
The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs (OMSA) is an office within the Department of Student Life that educates, empowers, and organizes students, campus and community partners to create opportunities for multicultural education, self-awareness, advocacy, cultural understanding, and social justice. The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs works to strengthen and sustain an inclusive campus community for all historically marginalized communities, and to provide support, services, and resources necessary to meet the social, academic, and cultural needs of our underrepresented student population.
The mission of the Office of the Multicultural Student Affairs (OMSA) is to build a welcoming, accepting, and supportive environment across multiple dimensions of diversity through education, programs, and services that promote social justice, awareness, and student success. OMSA seeks to:
• Provide students of marginalized communities’ support and advocacy services to aid in their success and retention.
• Promote understanding of multiple facets of diversity through programs and events on cultural competencies/awareness, diversity and social justice education, and Safe Zone training.
• Provide support/assistance for student organizations that are reflective of our mission and to the campus community in order to aid in the diversity efforts of the University.
The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs strives to educate each member of the university community. Through understanding the individual responsibility they carry, Carolinians can create a community of acceptance for all individuals as well as nurture an atmosphere of inclusion and positive social change.
